Big Tech’s war on conservative voices has reached new heights. But MRC Free Speech America’s CensorTrack team has denounced the left’s online censorship by amassing 2,500 individual cases to hold Big Tech to account.
The CensorTrack database has documented 2,500 cases of Big Tech silencing conservatives online since March 2020. Meanwhile, Big Tech has launched a sitting president, silencing members of the free press like the New York Post for his reporting on Hunter Biden and the shutting down of free speech platforms like Speak.
Twitter censorship and Facebook deleted a story from New York Post who purported to expose the corruption allegations of current President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden in Ukraine. Not only did Twitter ban users from posting the link to the story, it also locked down the To postcount for 17 days. A post-election poll conducted by MRC found 36% of Biden voters were unaware of the story, and 4.6% would not have voted for him had they heard of the scandal, which could have tilted the outcome of the election.
Former President Donald Trump has also been banned from at least 10 platforms after calling for “peace” following the January 6 riot at the United States Capitol. He was kicked out of Youtube, Twitter Facebook, Instagram, Twitch, Stripe, Snapchat, Reddit, TikTok and even Shopify. Facebook later announced that the former president would be suspended for at least two years. Twitter has since refused to allow him to return.
Even conservatives who have tried to form their own platform have found that they cannot escape the grip of Big Tech. Apple and Google have both removed Parler from their app stores. Amazon even started the platform from its web hosting services, which temporarily shut down the Parler website. Google too deleted Gab, an equally supportive free speech platform for so-called “hate speech”.
Thousands of other examples of Big Tech censorship exist. YouTube demonetized One America News in October 2020 and suspended the channel for a week. Instagram refused to allow Sen. Marsha blackburn (R-TN) to purchase advertisements for his children’s book on Tennessee’s ratification of the 19th Amendment. A recent survey found that Amazon’s charity program, AmazonSmile, allows organizations like Planned Parenthood and The Satanic Temple to receive corporate donations. Meanwhile, conservative organizations like the Family Research Council and the Alliance Defending Freedom cannot.
The Conservatives are under attack. Contact your representatives and demand that Big Tech be held to account to reflect the First Amendment while providing transparency, clarity on “hate speech” and a level playing field for the Tories.
