Let CNN be hypocritical about the stairs. Four years ago this week, the far-left cable network mocked Donald Trump as claiming to be “afraid of the stairs,” including getting on and off planes. But now the station has largely ignored Joe Biden’s fall as he attempted to climb Air Force One.
In March 2017, CNN correspondent Jeanne Moos quoted others mockingly, “ScareCase” chuckled a British newspaper when President Trump took over the Prime Minister [Theresa] May’s hand as they walked up to the White House.
More teasing from Moos: “Ever since I first heard of the phobia rumor … I’ve become a little obsessed with watching President Trump watch his footsteps.”
As Fox News reported, CNN (with MSNBC) wasn’t very interested in Biden’s downfall while trying to get on Air Force One:
After sounding the alarm over President Trump’s use of a ramp at the US Military Academy in the 2020 presidential election, CNN and MSNBC virtually ignored President Biden’s intense fall as he climbed the stairs on Friday on Air Force One.
Biden fell three times while boarding the presidential plane for a trip to Atlanta. The White House later issued a statement saying he was fine and suggesting that the “wind” at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland was to blame for the ordeal.
According to Grabien’s transcripts, CNN spent just 15 seconds on how Biden “struggled to find his balance” on the “windy” morning and how he “got off the plane with ease” upon arrival at Atlanta.
Curtis Houck, editor-in-chief of NewsBusters, however, found that for Trump in 2020:
NewsBusters analysis revealed that CNN and MSNBC spent 50 minutes and 55 seconds (excluding teasing) on June 15 reveling in the ordeal as a sign of Trump’s supposed mental and physical decline that was to be the subject of further investigation.
