Alligators apparently taking over Florida properties are common this time of year. Just last month, they were spotted crossing a street, swimming in a pool, and even walking around the parking lot of a supermarket.
But a teenager was shocked when he discovered a huge alligator lying on his porch, blocking the front door.
TikTok user @ javi.her, who passes by Javi on the platform, posted about his terrifying encounter with the reptilians on Thursday. It has since been viewed over a million times and enjoyed by over 820,000 viewers.
The video begins calmly, Javi grimacing at the camera as if something is displeasing her. He then turns the camera to show the partially obstructed view of a huge alligator outside his front door.
Javi includes additional home security footage, which gives a clearer look at the huge gator. He doesn’t appear to be aggressive, but certainly seems happy to stay put in the door.
The TikTok ends with Javi trapped in his bedroom, overlaying the images with the text, “coming to hold it back [with a typed sad face], “although it is not immediately clear whether law enforcement or animal control have been called to the house.
Javi captioned the post with words from the Backyardigans song “Castaways” heard in the video: “We are indeed stuck where we are”. He also appears to be nicknamed the alligator “Chompy” in one of the hashtags in the video.
Viewers were shocked at the size of the alligator that Javi’s porch unwittingly housed.
“Tell me you live in Florida, without telling me you live in Florida,” one onlooker remarked.
Dozens of people have joked about the potential reasons the alligator went to Javi, ranging from an occasional visit to business talks.
“Okay, but he’s literally asking questions about your [vehicle’s] the extended warranty let it in, “one suggested.” He [just] you want to know if you want to buy some [Girl Scout] cookies, ”another joked.
Javi even replied, “I mean a box of Thin Mints in exchange for my leg is a good deal.”
Javi also uploaded another video on Sunday, with footage of her home’s digital doorbell captured when it detected movement in front of the home.
In the second video, the massive animal is seen walking on the lawn towards the house. Although the doorbell is too high to capture the alligator’s entire body as it approaches the door, its long tail is visible in the lower corner.
Viewers found the end of the video hilarious, as someone in the house is seen opening the front door not knowing the alligator is outside. The individual, identified by Javi as his stepfather in the comments, immediately closes the door and walks away.
“[He] really said to alligator later, “a spectator joked.”[He] said I don’t do this today, ”another wrote humorously.
Newsweek reached out to Javi for comment, but he did not respond in time for the post. It was also not immediately clear how long the alligator was on the porch.
