On the latest NewsBusters podcast, we discuss Sunday’s truly viral exchange Meet the press, when NBC host Chuck Todd pushed and pushed and tried to shame Rep Dan Crenshaw over the supposedly sorry state of the GOP, and Crenshaw upset him saying the reporters were all Liberals. Todd calls this the “laziest” answer, but the laziest approach is never to think about how liberal you look on TV.
Then Todd turned around and gave a very receptive audience to Republican Adam Kinzinger, who trash Trump. Todd asked Crenshaw why anyone should believe a word of what he says. Kinzinger was automatically credible because he hates Trump. Todd interrupted Crenshaw and got into a fight with him. Kinzinger was allowed to speak for a minute or more without interruption. Todd did the same trick with anti-Trump Republican Brendan Buck on the panel of experts. Please speak for as long as you want, as long as it’s anti-Trump and condemnation for the future of the GOP.
On a similar partisan front on Sunday, CNN Reliable sources Host Brian Stelter hosted a segment on how the media really needed a “democratic beat” to investigate and denounce Republicans suppressing voters. His guest Ari Berman from Mother Jones explicitly says that our American division is not Republicans versus Democrats, but Republicans versus Democracy. The Liberals always claim that they are the protectors of democracy, but it is amazing how much they do not want the Conservatives to speak on television. Imagine the world run only by the pleasant guests of Stelter on Reliable sources.
