Thursdays Hello Joe, White House PA reporter Jonathan Lemire addressed Nancy Pelosi’s rejection of two Republican nominations to the Jan.6 committee and Kevin McCarthy’s announcement that unless Pelosi backtracked , he would withdraw all Republican nominations. As you might expect, Lemire put all the blame on the Republicans while thinking of Pelosi and Democrats in general. How does this analysis seem different from that of a Democratic member of Congress?
JONATHAN LEMIRE: We just ran into the deeply cynical game that it is. Now the Republicans are going to come out with their own report, which they will present as a co-equal of what Pelosi’s Democratic-plus-Liz-Cheney committee is going to do. And they will say: look! These are two versions of the truth. And they will try to dilute it. It’s more of the same obscuring and trying the fog machine as to what happened on January 6 that continues the Republicans’ model of downplaying the gravity of that day.
But that’s just going to become another political talking point, and [the Republicans] gonna try to turn the page on this as fast as they can, bury it, say, oh!
And despite pressure from the White House to make this happen, despite Democrats apparently going into it with a good faith effort, a bipartisan attempt to get to the bottom of what happened, to try to prevent something like this from happening again, Republicans are not going to play ball. And that’s just going to get more and more Americans to shrug their shoulders and say listen, that’s why Washington is so broken.
This is far from the first time that “journalist” Lemire has flown his Liberal flag on MSNBC. Exactly a year ago today, we caught Lemire claiming that, unlike others, he do not credit President Trump with his measured and gloomy coronavirus press conference. As we have observed:
“[Lemire’s] the opening lines sounded like standard anti-Trump partisanship, rather than that of an ostensibly objective journalist. . . Looks like Lemire wants to quit his PA job and was auditioning for a full-time gig on MSNBC. “
Other examples of Lemire’s liberal bias abound, such as here, here, here and here.
The time has come, and in fact is long gone, for Jonathan Lemire to have the integrity and decency to leave the Associated Press. His work as an overtly partisan and liberal “analyst” on MSNBC is fundamentally incompatible with his role as a White House “reporter” for the PA.
Here is how the AP is billed on its About page [emphasis added]:
Advancing the Power of Facts: The Associated Press is an independent global news organization dedicated to factual reporting. Founded in 1846, AP remains today the most reliable source of fast, accurate, impartial news in all formats and the essential supplier of technology and essential services to the information sector.
With its reporters ditching Democratic rhetoric all over the cable “news”, AP should have the integrity to let go of its “About” boast of devoting itself to “unbiased reporting” and “factual news.”
