Boris Becker thinks having a healthy and strong competition could be the key to Iga Swiatek remaining motivated and winning more Grand Slams. Swiatek, who turned 22 on May 31st, captured her fourth Grand Slam title after beating Karolina Muchova in the French Open final .

Since the 2022 French Open, Swiatek has won three Grand Slams. Swiatek already has four Grand Slam titles and Becker predicted to Eurosport that the Pole could easily win 10 to 15 Slams if she manages to stay motivated and competitive.

Becker, a former seven-time Grand Slam champion, thinks knowing there are strong rivals out there would motivate Swiatek to further work on her game and also fuel the Pole to continue proving she is the best in the game.

Becker on why healthy competition could benefit Swiatek a lot

“The question is the rivalry; the women need it as much as the men. For Djokovic, [Rafael] Nadal and [Roger] Federer were important, and for Swiatek, it will be important that [Aryna] Sabalenka continues to improve, that Muchova continues to play well, Ons Jabeur, I also want to mention here, Coco Gauff, I would also like to see in the final again.

For me, these are the best women, and when there is healthy competition, then the players really enjoy it. They are all competitors, they want to measure themselves against each other, and that is also a good sign for Swiatek,” Becker told Eurosport.

This summer, Swiatek will attempt to make her first big Wimbledon result. In her first three Wimbledon appearances, Swiatek made the round-of-16 just once. The grass is the only surface that Swiatek hasn’t figured out yet as many are curious to see if the Pole can elevate her grass game to another level in 2023. Swiatek is expected to kick off her grass season in Bad Homburg before going to Wimbledon.
