He held in games one and three and came from 40-15 down in the fourth to rattle off four straight points and secure a break after the rival’s backhand error. The Russian held at 15 in game five to confirm the advantage and move closer to the finish line.
Medvedev delivered another fine hold in game seven for 5-2, and Broady came from 30-0 down in the next one to bring it home and prolong the battle. Daniil served for the victory at 5-3 and drew the opponent’s mistake with a fine attack to seal the deal and move into the last eight.
