Coach Goran Ivanisevic claims he successfuly predicted a long ago that both Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal would eventually beat Roger Federer’s Grand Slam record. Federer, 40, for a long time held the all-time Grand Slam record with 20 Grand Slams.

After winning two Grand Slams this year, Nadal owns a record 22 Grand Slams. Meanwhile, Djokovic improved to 21 Grand Slam victories after winning this year’s Wimbledon. Going forward, Ivanisevic thinks Djokovic and Nadal will win more Grand Slams before they retire.

“Even before I became Djokovic’s coach, I said that both of them would eventually have more than Federer. If they are healthy, there is no limit. I think that both will still win,” Ivanisevic said, per Croatian News Agency HINA.

Ivanisevic: Djokovic never told us not to get vaccinated

Some are accusing Djokovic of being an “anti-vax leader” for refusing to take the vaccine. Djokovic missed out on the US Open because of his vaccination status and now there is a strong chance he will be kept out of the US Open as well .

“I respect and appreciate him, he made a decision that he will not change,” Ivanisevic said. “When they proclaim him to be a leader, to have a bad influence on people, that is wrong. He doesn’t want to get vaccinated, he doesn’t want to put it into his body, and he never told others not to get vaccinated.

I respect and support his decision. I hope these decisions are reversed, people infected in Australia, Roland Garros and Wimbledon and nothing to anyone. There are so many contradictions, I was vaccinated, it’s not a problem for me, but for two and a half years they terrorise us, when you’re infected it’s like you have scabies, they throw you and the team out. We were on the wall of shame.”
