Not all tennis players have the great opportunity to even train with the CEO of a major tournament like the BNP Paribas Open. The honor was probably mutual, as the CEO of the ATP Masters 1000 of Indian Wells Tommy Haas trained a few days ago with the winner of the Australian Open 2024 Jannik Sinner.

Haas spent truly splendid money on the young Italian, on the eve of the Sinners’ 2nd round win against Thanasi Kokkinakis.

“Sinner’s confidence is due to the number of matches and tournaments he has won. At the moment he is the favorite here,” said Haas, placing Sinner as favorite to win Indian Wells ahead of his three main rivals, Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev.

Tommy Haas praised Jannik Sinner

Haas revealed how honored he felt to have had the opportunity to train on the court with Jannik

“He is undoubtedly the fittest player since the end of last season. I was lucky to be able to train with him a few days ago and it was fantastic for me to be able to dribble with the best tennis player on the circuit and see how he hits the ball. For me it was a spectacular workout,” he explained.

“Already a year ago he had played well in Indian Wells and reached the semi-final. This means that he likes the conditions. Alcaraz has already won so much as a young man, while Sinner triumphed at the last Australian Open.

But there are also many other strong players on the Tour such as Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev, Holger Rune, Andrey Rublev and Casper Ruud. Let’s not forget about young Americans like Ben Shelton who has great potential.

Obviously Novak Djokovic still wants to prove that he is the strongest, also because he comes from a spectacular 2023 in which he won three Slam titles out of four,” explained Haas.
