Dominic Thiem admits that there are certain things that he has to figure out for himself, as he believes that even having Roger Federer as his mental coach would not help him in this situation. Thiem, 29, has not won a title since he was crowned Grand Slam champion at the 2020 US Open.
Over the past two and a half years, Thiem has had a very long layoff through injury and has often struggled with his form and results. For many years, Thiem was trying to become a Grand Slam champion. Once he achieved his biggest goal, the spark was lost.
“It only depends on me. I could take Roger Federer as a mental coach, that would not help me either (sic). In Melbourne you could see, after the final, how Novak Djokovic was full of energy and it literally came out of him. In fact, it is a difficult phase when you are successful.
It’s not very fun. It’s always been hard for me to savor victories,” Thiem told Der Standard, as revealed by Sportskeeda. Last weekend, the Austrian Thiem was defeated in his two individual Davis Cup matches against Croatia. Ultimately, Austria suffered a 3 -1 loss to Croatia in their Davis Cup tie.
