Former seven-time Grand Slam John McEnroe says Roger Federer is “the most beautiful player” he has ever seen. Federer, a 20-time Grand Slam champion, is described by many as the most aesthetically pleasing player to watch.

Federer makes tennis look easy with his play and McEnroe admits he is one of those who think that the Swiss has the most aeshetically pleasing game to watch. “Roger is the most beautiful player I’ve ever seen.

He’s like an updated version of Rod Laver. I’d never seen anyone that tried harder than Jimmy Connors but Nadal has succeeded in that. Djokovic is like the human dartboard, which I can relate to,” McEnroe told The Week.

McEnroe regrets he didn’t play more times versus Borg

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, McEnroe and Borg created one of the most historic rivalries. But Borg then retired at the age of 26 and the great Borg and McEnroe rivalry ended far earlier than initially expected.

Had Borg stayed active, McEnroe admits he would have been more motivated to win more than seven Grand Slams. “Absolutely. It would have been better for me and the game. It was just a huge hole. Novak Djokovic and Nadal have played 59 times now, which is a crazy amount of times.

Borg and I only played 14. It was a damn shame”. Also, McEnroe gave his thoughts on the Wimbledon decision to ban Russian players from competing. McEnroe feels top-ranked Daniil Medvedev is not happy about what is happening in Ukraine but he can ‘t publicly condemn Vladimir Putin because that could potentially put him and his family in a dangerous situation.

“(Medvedev) probably (is) not too happy about what’s going on [in Ukraine]. But if he says anything, his friends or his family could be thrown in prison for 15 years,” McEnroe said.
