“I am satisfied with being back in the semi-finals, I beat tough opponents in this tournament, players I don’t like playing with in terms of tactics and rhythm. Today there were difficult conditions due to the wind but I am happy for the victory.”

Daniil Medvedev won in two hard-fought sets against the Dane Holger Rune, defeated with the result of 7-5 6-4, getting the semifinal of the BNP Paribas Open of Indian Wells. The Russian returns to the semifinals of an ATP Masters 1000 after the victory in Rome last year.

“I heard this statistic and I actually thought I should do better than these results,” he told at the press conference.

The tennis player had a verbal confrontation with Rune during the match. Daniil tried to clarify what happened.

“It was a misunderstanding, we now live in a world where there are social media everywhere and maybe our little clash will remain there for 10 years while no one will remember our great points.

It’s a court thing and it ends immediately, he had apologized but I didn’t see it, but he had done it. I got angry, but Carlos told me that he had apologized to me and so everything is resolved.

I don’t think there will be a continuation in this story. Something against Rune? Absolutely not, in the end he used this tactic which was also good but I was angry because I hadn’t seen his apologies, these things happen and I also apologized for perhaps an excessive reaction.”

Medvedev made his preview on Sinner-Alcaraz’s future

Medvedev then expressed his point of view on his opponent in the Indian Wells semi-final: Tommy Paul.

“I saw his first match where he won easily, he seems to be playing well even though I haven’t seen his other matches. We trained together before the tournament, I can’t wait to play this match and it will be a real battle,” he explained.

Regarding young talents such as Jannik Sinner and Carlis AlcarazMedvedev talked about who will have the most Slams in ten years, making a long-term prediction.

“It’s a bold hypothesis, at the moment one would say Sinner but Alcaraz is also very strong and let’s say that in 10 years Alcaraz and Sinner will have the same number of Slams, then by the end of their careers I don’t know! “ he told.
