There are many opponents who can put him in difficulty: Jannik Sinner is aware of this and he works to be ready, even when things go less well.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, the Australian Open champion talked about the psychological part of tennis. In addition to the opponent in front of you, you often find yourself having to deal with yourself too.

“It’s true: sometimes we can really become an obstacle for ourselves. But more often we are the only ones who can give us a great hand. In the end, a player only has control over himself. We cannot control the wind, the sun , much less the opponent when he plays well: these are variables that you can only accept. The way I am, I fear the opponent more,” he told.

On his most dangerous opponents, Jannik mentioned these tennis players: “Alexander Zverev and Daniil Medvedev are playing very well. Carlos Alcaraz has already won two Slams and is two years younger than me. And then there’s Novak Djokovic. Nole is Nole.”

Sinner knows that more delicate moments will come in which not everything will go right. With his proverbial humility, Sinner has taken them into account and is working to face them when they arrive.

“I can manage certain moments of difficulty even better, there is still a lot I can learn from my mistakes. I’m playing well now, but slightly more difficult moments will come: it’s important to work now to face them prepared,” he analyzed.

Jannik Sinner’s golden moment

Sinner is the tennis player of the moment: from Wimbledon 2023 to Rotterdam 2024, the young Italian has shown impressive progress, from a technical, physical and mental point of view.

The latest performances, increasingly convincing, make us think in this direction, but Jannik is aware that every tournament is different and every time the same mental approach, the same determination and the same enthusiasm are needed.

“I’m number 4 (now he’s 3 – ed.) in the world. For the moment. It’s certainly a good result, but now I still have to work, prepare for everything, because by now my opponents know me well, even my weaknesses. I’m one of those to beat, let’s say, “ he recently declared.
