New Orlando Pride head coach Seb Hines made it very clear that the team had a major gap last year: The Pride didn’t score enough goals. In fact, all year, Orlando totaled 20 goals in the National Women’s Soccer League regular season.
Orlando, according to Hines, went into the 2023 NWSL Draft looking for solutions to that problem. With their five picks, the Pride drafted three forwards and two defenders — which helps to shape up the defensive issue of letting in 45 goals, which was second-highest in the league behind Gotham FC’s 46 goals allowed.
