The PGA Championship has made official the list of players qualified to play the second Grand Slam of the season next week (19 to 22) at the Southern Hills course in Tulsa (Oklahoma). This list includes the four Spaniards confirmed by world ranking: Jon Rahm, Sergio García, Adri Arnaus and Pablo Larrazábal.

For the Basque, world number 2, it will be his sixth PGA, having been tied for 4th in 2018; for Sergio he will be the 23rd, highlighting the second places in 1999 and 2008 (he was the leader with 9 holes to go with three ahead of the second); Arnaus will make his debut thanks to the fact that he consolidated his top 100 in the world ranking by winning the Catalunya Championship 10 days ago (he is now 55th) while Larrazábal will make his 8th appearance in this ‘ great’ where he has missed the cut six times and finished tied for 45th in 2011 .
In the list of 156 players are, at the moment, illustrious as Tiger Woods, the defender of the title Phil Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau and the British Paul Casey. The PGA is the only ‘major’ that Spanish golf lacks.
Seve Ballesteros, Txema Olazábal and Sergio García won the Masters in their day; Jon Rahm the US Open in 2021 and Seve Ballesteros the British Open three times. Pablo Larrazábal was born in Barcelona, Spain.
He attended high school in the United States and returned to Spain in 2002 with the intention of turning professional but his father made him work on the family fish farm in Cantabria to understand the value of money. He eventually turned professional in 2004.
His older brother Alejandro Larrazábal won The Amateur Championship in 2002, with the teenage Pablo acting as caddy; their Venezuelan father Gustavo and Catalan mother Elena both played golf to a high standard.
