On Thursday, NJ/NY Gotham FC announced that the club has traded midfielder Victoria Pickett to the North Carolina Courage in exchange for $200,000 in allocation money. The move comes just four months after the Canadian midfielder signed a three-year deal with the club.

“First, I want to say a special thanks to my teammates for embracing, supporting, and believing in me. I’m forever appreciative of them and lucky to have learned from these special players,” said Pickett. “I also want to thank Yael Averbuch West, the coaching staff, the medical team, and the entire soccer operations team for supporting me in my playing career and for the way this move was handled by the club. Thank you to the fans for welcoming me and I wish nothing but continued success for Gotham FC.”

Pickett was selected 15th overall in the 2021 National Women’s Soccer League Draft. She joined Gotham FC by way of a trade with the Kansas City Current in August 2022. In return, Gotham sent the Current $200,000 in allocation money and a first-round draft pick from the 2023 NWSL Draft.

Pickett made six appearances at the end of the 2022 regular season. This season, she has made three appearances with one start and played 104 minutes over four games.

“Victoria was part of a very deep group of midfielders that have really pushed each other to be the best this season,” said Gotham FC GM and Head of Soccer Operations Yael Averbuch West. “We wish Victoria the best in North Carolina and thank her for her talents and professionalism during her time with our club.”
